DESCRIPTION
Zoila mariellae is considered the holy grail of cowrie collecting. The species was trawled only in the 1970s by Taiwanese fishing vessels, and very few specimens have reached private collections. Despite several attempts, its exact habitat remains unknown; the original shells were reportedly trawled somewhere along the northern coast of Western Australia. This specimen comes from an old collection and is a large, heavy shell with a few minor imperfections that do not detract from the beauty of this remarkable species. A rare opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after cowries for advanced collectors and Zoila specialists.
